A member of the British royal family household has stepped down from her post after making a racist comment to a woman at the palace reception.

The royal aide was said to have repeatedly made “unacceptable and deeply regrettable” about race and nationality to Ngozi Fulani at Buckingham Palace.

Fulani was born in Britain and works for a domestic abuse support group, posted on Twitter that the royal aide had repeatedly questioned her on what part of Africa she was from.

This happened during an event hosted by King Charles’s wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort on Tuesday.

Reuters reported that a spokesperson had announced this in a statement on Wednesday.

“We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details. In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable statements have been made,” the statement read.

Buckingham Palace revealed that the aide who Fulani referred to as Lady SH, would like to apologise for the hurt caused and decided to step down from her role, effective immediately.
