Ahead of the May 29 presidential inauguration ceremony, which is scheduled to take place in Eagle Square in Abuja, the Nigeria Police Force issued traffic diversion announcements.

The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory’s police, Josephine Adeh, said on Friday that the Goodluck Jonathan Motorway by the Court of Appeal, Deeper Life Junction are the diversion points.

Also the Bond/Total Fuel Station, POWA/FCDA Junction, Finance Junction by ECOWAS/Women Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes the diversion points.

“Other diversion points are Eagle Square ( Phase 1 & Phase 11), Kur Muhammad Way / National Mosque, Abia House, NITEL Junction by Ademola Adetokunbo and Gana Junction/Transcorp.

“Traffic will also be diverted at Bayelsa House by Federal High Court, Aso Drive, Ceddi Plaza, NNPC Twin Tower and NNPC/NBS.” Adeh stated.

In order to ensure a secure and orderly inauguration, the police spokesperson said that the leadership had also distributed personnel and material resources, including intelligence and tactical assets, throughout the FCT.

She claimed that by taking these steps the inauguration would be calm and any harm to the country’s democratic process will be avoided.

Furthermore, the statement read: “The command equally wishes to notify the public of proposed fireworks scheduled to take place on the eve of the inauguration  midnight of May 28, at the City Gate and the Millennium Tower to usher in the new administration.

“The fireworks will be carried out by Messrs Innate Arts and Media”.

Also, Adeh highlighted that the operational deployment was typified by visibility police across the entire region.

According to her, there would be stop-and-search duties, raids on “black spots” driven by intelligence, surveillance, and vehicle/foot patrol.
