The tour of the seat of power is intended to enable the incoming President with know the workings of the State House, from where he would preside over Nigeria’s affairs.

On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari was seen with his successor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, talking the Aso Rock tour.

The Presidential Villa tour came three days to the inauguration which will hold on May 29, 2023.

It will take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

Both leaders were observed walking about the villa area after Jumat prayers at the Mosque on the site.

Also, the outgoing Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, took Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, on a familiarisation tour of the VP wing of the Villa earlier on Thursday.

The pair made a quick stop in the Press Gallery, where reporters covering the State House generally congregate.

However, the two leaders did not talk to reporters in the Press Gallery, which is adjacent to the State House’s Council Chambers.

They stood for a few minutes, listening to their guide, Kazaure, and did not answer any questions.

National Honours

Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, State Chief of Protocols (SCoP), led the President and his successor on the tour.

Also, they were accompanied by a huge retinue of Presidency officials and security officers.

Other top State House officials who followed to the State House, includes the Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and the Permanent Secretary, Umar Tijjani.

This Aso Rock familiarisation tour comes just 24 hours after the President bestowed the National Honours of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic

Also, Shettima was made the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger at the event  held at the State House Banquet Hall.

At the event, both leaders exchanged paperwork prior of the official turnover of power on Monday, May 29, 2023.
