Effiong, in a series of tweets, said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should have encouraged one of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary candidates to oppose Shettima’s double nomination.

He believes that would have brought a different side to the case.

According to him, the PDP made a significant error in challenging Shettima’s double nomination on its own.

The Supreme Court dismissed the PDP’s action seeking Tinubu and Shettima’s disqualification from the 2023 presidential election on Friday.

The Court ruled that the PDP’s lawsuit lacked merit.

“The PDP could have persuaded one of the numerous APC primary candidates to challenge the double nomination of Shettima

“The result was predictable.

“Given the condition of the law on pre-election topics, it wasn’t going to work.

“It is more convenient to raise it as a ground in the petition and argue that the double nomination eroded Tinubu/Shettima’s qualification”

Also, he added that the case was a source of distraction.
