A former presidential aide Akin Osuntokun has been unveiled as the new Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

iBrandtv understands that Osuntokun was appointed by the party to replace Doyin Okupe who resigned as the director-general of the campaign council for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Hitherto to his new position, Osuntokun was the Zonal Coordinator (South) of the campaign council, and a former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who served as Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and as Director of the Presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011.
Okupe resigned on his own accord last week after he was sentenced to jail by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 19, 2022, for violating the Money Laundering Act.
The court said Okupe was guilty of receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

The court held that Okupe was guilty in counts 34, 35, 36, and 59 and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of a fine.
Okupe on that premise resigned on his own accord saying the interest of the party and its supporters worldwide is bigger than his own personal interest.
