Now, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi has been caught up in the mix.

He has failed to comment on the horrific attack, which occurred in Anambra State earlier this week.

You see, Peter Obi is one politician that is known by his followers for always speaking up for and standing by the side of truth.

In fact, shortly after the NLC chairman, Joe Ajaero was arrested and brutalized in Imo State, Obi had publicly condemned such act of lawlessness by the government.

Hence, when two brothers were burnt to death in Anambra State where he once governed, Obi up till the time of filing this report is yet to react leaving his followers in dismay.

What is worse is that, members of the opposition party have used this as a means to mock him and his followers.

The Incident

Angry mobs in the main market, Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday, set ablaze two suspected criminals who were allegedly terrorizing residents of Sokoto Road.

The suspects were accused of involvement in illegal revenue collection.

The traumatic incident was widely condemned by many Nigerians, including some political elites and Amnesty International, calling for an investigation into it.

Obi’s Silence

Now, Former Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, while reacting to the attack, called on Peter Obi to condemn it and address the residents of the state since they listen to him.

However, it has been two days since the incident, and the former Governor of Anambra State has ignored the call to condemn the jungle justice meted out at the suspected criminals.

Peter Obi, on Thursday, spoke about the incessant fire incidents in the country and condemned the attack on the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, in Imo State.

He also commended the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, for his concern about the security of the state, following the discovery of decomposed corpses, headless bodies and skeletons at a popular market in the state.
