You see, this once revered political strategy is, however, gradually becoming a reason for mockery.

This is why Nigerian pastor and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tunde Bakare, said he warned that the “Emilokan” politics would lead to dictatorship.

Bakare is the Senior Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as the Latter Rain Church.

He spoke on Sunday during a State of the Nation broadcast at his church in Ikeja, Lagos.

Emilokan (It Is My Turn)

President Tinubu made the famous “Emi lokan (It is my turn)” speech on June 2, 2022. It was given ahead of the 2023 election.

Basically, people say Tinubu had noticed a seeming lack of support from the then President and reported opposition by key members of the Presidency.

The fiery cleric said he had warned against the politics of entitlement.

According to him, it would slide towards an imperial presidency and would be intolerant of dissent voices.
