Work hazard is real and being mindful of your own safety will help you stay safe. In a factory in Logbara village, Owode Egba, something pathetic happened over the weekend. 

An employee at a factory where animal feed is being produced had his hand chopped off on August 11.

This was contained in a statement released by the spokesperson for the police in Ogun State, SP Omolola Odutola.

Odutola said a situation report from Owode Egba Division indicated that on the said day, one Ibidun Abiodun, a female made a report.

Abiodun identified herself as the administrative manager of the factory.

The Report

She reported that one Jeremiah Sulaiman, an employee of the company got his forearm chopped off.

Sulaiman is in charge of machine handling and cleaning of the industrial machine.

It was while performing his duties, that the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to Odutola, the victim was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital Ilishan by the Production manager and his immediate supervisor.

The Investigation

She said preliminary investigation had begun into the unfortunate incident to unravel how the victim’s forearm was chopped off.

She said that the state Commissioner of Police has been briefed.

He has ordered that the executives and members of the victim’s family meet in his office.

This is as part of the investigation procedures.

“Hazards are inevitable in workplaces.

“However, employees must take steps to ensure their personal safety especially in the instant case involving automated machines.

“This will not be first time such incidents are reported, but members of the public can rest assured that the Commissioner of Police CP ALAMUTU ABIODUN MUSTAPHA psc is on top of this investigation.’,” the police statement read.
