Aside from inflation that is raging in Nigeria, food crisis that is leading to hunger and starvation is becoming a problem that needs to be tackled with urgency.

So, while countries all around the world were celebrating the world food day, Nigerians were left in a wondering state.

Food is important for human survival. Without food and clean water to nourish the body and provide strength, no living thing would survive on earth.

So, to alleviate poverty, reduce food crisis and boost food production in Nigeria, a food processing company has been established.

The food processing company was established in Niger State by the State Government.

In a meeting with the Bobi Grazing Reserve held at the Government House, Minna, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Usman, made the disclosure.

According to Usman, the Company would unlock the immense potential of livestock industry in the State.

Furthermore, he said, “through this initiative, jobs would be created, and we would also attract investments”.

“The Food Processing Company will aggregate; process and package farm produce to create business activities, boost farming and improve food security”.

This Feat Is Worth Emulating

People have lauded the move, but fears are around the tendency of allowing the establishment to dilapidate.

Meanwhile, some persons are of the opinion that if all other governors should also look inwards.

What could come from such critical thinking is the development of projects that would contribute immensely to the economy of their states while creating jobs.

Nigerians would in a short time forget about wanting to leave the nation, what is now referred to as JAPA.

Whatever barrier that has been stopping other governors from executing such laudable projects as this has been broken and they can now follow suit.

Like we say in our local parlance “make them follow person wey sabi road”.

The SSG further explained that Niger State was committed to Agriculture in a very strategic way knowing that the sector could ensure food security in Nigeria.

Despite bandits’ incursion, the state is committed to creating employment for its citizens in the agricultural sector.

He also stated that the Niger State Government was beefing up security in the state. He believes it will end the food crisis.
