You may not know, but the kidney is one of the most trafficked organs in Nigeria.

It is estimated that the illegal organ trade generate approximately $840 million to $1.7 billion annually, according to GFI.

Abass Adeyemi, a 36-year-old doctor, is one of the persons benefiting from this organ trafficking.

Now, he is in the custody of the Kwara Police Command on suspicion of killing four persons.

On Monday, at the command headquarters in Ilorin, Police Commissioner, Paul Odama, gave insight into the alleged crime.

He claimed that Ifeoluwa Olanipekun, one of the victims who had been listed as missing by F Division, was the same young woman who was reportedly slaughtered and dumped into a bush by the suspect at Alapa in the Asa local council.

According to the police chief, investigations found that the suspect was last seen with the dead woman, Miss Olanipekun.

“When the command was investigating the matter, information arrived that Dr. Abbas Adeyemi had been detained by Edo’s police command in connection with another murder case.

“In an effort to get to the bottom of the Kwara State serial murder case, the command was successful in getting him released from Edo and transferred to the Kwara State Command to aid in the investigation,” Mr. Odama, he explained.

According to the police, “Adeyemi admitted to having killed Ifeoluwa on June 24, 2022, by striking her with a blunt instrument on the head and depositing the body at a bush in Alapa”.

“Additionally, he admitted to having drugged and killed Nafisat Halidu, a temporary employee at General Motors, and caused the kidnapping and death of Abubakar Malam Abubakar.

The suspect claimed to have covered her body in rubbish, filled the trash can with cement, and put it inside a locked cabinet at General Hospital Kaiama, according to the police commissioner.

Also, he admitted to killing a woman who was buried inside the same general hospital store.

According to Mr. Odama, both bodies were unearthed, collected, and placed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

According to the commissioner, Mr. Adeyemi admitted to having been led into organ harvesting by an unnamed group.

A Toyota Camry automobile (WSN 494 AA) that belonged to Ms. Olanipekun and two female handbags were found by the police in the doctors possession.

Additional items include a Tecno phone, a feminine wig, an Infinix phone, a black veil, and a woman pant.
