These were the exact words of the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, as he called on Nigerians to report individuals found in possession of live ammunition.

This move is part of the measures put in place to address the issue of arms proliferation in Nigeria.

The recent kidnappings of residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seem to have come as a wake-up call for the police.

But Adejobi is certain that the force alone cannot bring crime to its knees.

That is why he is calling on Nigerians to join hands with the force to fight crime.

Adejobi shared this message on his official social media account on Sunday.

He even attached a photo of live ammunition commonly referred to as “èpà” or “groundnuts” in street terminology.

Adejobi said: “These are live ammunition, called “èpà” or “groundnuts” in the street.
“They are deadly, not to be seen with anyone except security agents. Statutory security agents, no other ones.
