Hilda Baci is one Nigerian name that will live long on the lips of many now and even in years to come.
The Akwa Ibom Chef, real name Hilda Effiong Bassey, broke the record for the longest cooking time by an individual by cooking non-stop for 100 hours and 45 minutes from May 11 to 15, 2023.
Baci revealed that breaking this record was a dream she’d had and prepared for for five years.
The cookathon was held at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, with media houses covering the event live.
She cooked over 170 meals for four days straight to beat Lata Tondon’s cooking record of 87 hours and 45 minutes.
However, one thing that stood out in the story of Hilda is the way Nigerians came together to support their own in the sun, rain, and midnight, just like they were united during End Sars and the 2023 Presidential Election.
For a dream that Hilda had had for five years, she may never have expected the outpouring of support she got while achieving her feat.
Aside from the fact that Baci had a great team and long-term preparation before the event.

The Lagos State Governor was physically present to support Hilda’s cookathon by encouraging her not to give up even though she’s tired.
He even ate some of the meals she prepared while he promised to support her with the resources needed for a successful completion of her journey.

Queen of Afrobeats, who performed live at the coronation of King Charles III, Tiwa Savage also graced the event physically to support Hilda.
