Jude Bellingham, 19, and his Dortmund teammates met Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night while holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Germany. But Chelsea won that game 2-0, leaving the Blues with a 2-1 aggregate.

During his pre-match conference, Terzic was pressed on what might be next for Bellingham, with United, having initially wanted the generational talent before he signed for Dortmund three years ago.

City are also said to be keen on the teenager.

Terzic said: “With all the respect for Jude and his performance, we have been answering the question since he joined. He chose to join us because he knows this can be the perfect step for him and I think we’ve proven that both ways.

“He’s helping us a lot. But I also think we, as a club, are helping him and his career as well”.
