His expulsion came despite a court injunction prohibiting them from looking into the activities of Mr. Goje and taking any disciplinary action against him.

The former governor, knowing that the party was making the move, quickly obtained a court injunction prohibiting the party from looking into his activities.

On Tuesday, Tanimu Abdullahi, the ward chairman, announced the suspension during a press conference.

He claimed that the party made the choice in accordance with the advice of a panel appointed to look into his alleged anti-party activities.

Cause Of Dismissal

According to Mr. Abdullahi, Mr. Goje was dismissed for a number of reasons, including his refusal to attend rallies for the state’s presidential candidate, his boycott of the party’s state, zone and local elections and his support for opposition parties.

The committee further determined that Mr. Goje had colluded with opposition parties and their candidates with the aim of undermining the APC’s triumph in Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

“Open support for opposition party candidates was shown, among other things, by hosting the NNPP’s candidate for governor and the PDP’s candidate for the federal house of representatives in Akko at his home.

“Giving specific instructions to his allies and protégés to act against the APC’s interests in Gombe State by ensuring that only Senator Goje is elected on the APC platform  and working to defeat other APC candidates at all levels.

“As a result of Senator Muhammadu Danjuma Goje’s numerous anti-party activities, which violate article 21, section A, subsections ii, iii, vi, and vii of the APC constitution, the executive council of the All Progressives Congress in the Kashere ward has decided to expel him from the party,” Mr. Abdullahi said.

High Court Ruling

A Federal High Court in Abuja, however, ruled on Friday that the party could not look into the former two-term governor without first providing him the opportunity to defend himself.

The executive council of the party in Mr. Goje’s home Kashere Ward was ordered to cease operations by Judge Ahmed Mohammed.

“An order for an interim injunction restraining the 1st and 2nd respondents, their officers, agents and privies for any further breach of the applicant’s right to a fair hearing, pending the hearing and the determination of the originating motion on notice,” reads a portion of the court ruling.

However, this ruling was not adhered to by the APC.
