Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared president-elect of Nigeria, following the announcement of the results of the 2023 election.
President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated him and is ready to hand over to him as soon as his tenure expires.
Buhari believes that Tinubu is the best man for the job and is sure he would take Nigeria forward.
Similarly, the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, congratulated Tinubu and his wife, Remi.
The First Lady is confident that Tinubu will lead the country into the future that the founders of Nigeria envisioned for the nation.
“I equally congratulate the wife of the President-elect, the incoming First Lady, and a grassroots politician, Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu.
“I have no doubt that Nigerian women will get a good deal during your tenure,” the President’s wife added.
She also congratulated the Vice-President Elect, Kashim Shettima on the success recorded at the keenly contested poll.
Remi Becomes A Housewife
Wife of the president-elect, Remi is a Nigerian senator who started representing Lagos central senatorial district in 2011 after her time as the first lady from 1999 to 2007.
However, Remi would no longer be a senator as her husband has said he has other duties for her in his house.
While giving his acceptance speech, Tinubu said senators should not expect his wife back in the red chamber.
“To my lovely wife, Oluremi Tinubu, you the senators should not expect her back.
“She is going to be my housewife and first lady,” Tinubu said.

In 2015, Remi was one of the six women elected into the red chamber, while in 2021, she received the award for the most impactful female senator at the Guardian-organised International Women’s Day Summit.
