Media personality, Toke Makinwa has opened up on how motherhood has healed her from long-buried childhood trauma and grief.

She revealed that she thought she had dealt with the pain, only to discover deeper wounds after becoming a mother to her daughter, Yakira Eliana.

In a heartfelt social media post, she wrote: “My daughter brought me healing; she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago.”

Makinwa welcomed her daughter in August 2025, announcing the birth on Instagram with a tender photo of her newborn’s hand clasped in hers.

Also, she described her baby girl as “my miracle” and “evidence” of God’s faithfulness.

Earlier, on August 13, 2025, she had revealed her pregnancy to the world, calling it the “biggest project” and “highest calling” of her life.
