Nigerian controversial social media critic and activist, Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has officially launched a new civic-driven campaign under his Ratel Movement.
He aimed at nationwide community service.

In a viral Facebook video shared on Wednesday, VDM announced that the initiative will commence on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
The plan is to make it a monthly sanitisation exercise across Nigerian communities.
According to him, the project is designed to combat environmental decay while instilling a renewed sense of patriotism and social responsibility among Nigerian youths.
“Starting from the 29th of November, 2025, which falls on a Saturday, we the Ratel Movement are taking over Nigeria. We are shutting down this country. That being said, we are not shutting down in terms of violence, we are shutting it down in terms of impact,” VDM declared.
The activist outlined the activities to include cleaning of public spaces, clearing blocked drainages, rehabilitating school facilities, and other grassroots community projects.
Also, he further noted that the movement seeks to shift its influence beyond social media activism into real-life impact.

“We are going to start what has never been seen before in Nigeria. We are going to be moving from just being on social media claiming to be Ratels to presenting ourselves in real life and impacting our society,” he emphasised.
