Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday evening, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja
The governor was recently reinstated following months of political tension and uncertainty.

He arrived at the State House forecourt at about 6:20 p.m. and held a closed-door meeting with the president for approximately two hours.
His visit comes barely days after President Tinubu officially lifted the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State since March 18, 2025.
The state of emergency was imposed due to the prolonged political crisis that paralysed governance
Speaking briefly after the meeting, Governor Fubara expressed his commitment to sustaining peace in the state.
When asked what advice the president gave him, he responded simply: “The president advised me on what to do.” On whether genuine peace has returned to Rivers, he added, “We have made peace.”
The earlier emergency rule had suspended the functions of Fubara, his deputy and Ngozi Nma Odu.
Also, members of the State House of Assembly for six months.
The move, according to Tinubu, was aimed at restoring order and safeguarding critical assets in the state.
