She made this choice because she says media attention follows her wherever she goes.

Cameras and photographers focus on her during services, and this often disrupts her worship experience.

“Do not ask if I am going to church.

I am not going to church.

Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she said.

Funke Akindele, who worships at the Celestial Church of Christ, also pointed out that media teams and other worshippers regularly draw attention to her during services.

As a result, she now prefers online worship, as it allows her to focus more on her faith without constant public attention.
