On Sunday morning, Funke Akindele kept her home busy with a familiar family routine.
She cooked breakfast and actively helped her children prepare for church.

However, she chose not to leave the house for a physical service, unlike in previous weeks.
Instead, she shared a video on her Snapchat where she directly explained her decision.
She now attends church services online rather than in person.
She made this choice because she says media attention follows her wherever she goes.
Cameras and photographers focus on her during services, and this often disrupts her worship experience.

Media Attention At Church
“Do not ask if I am going to church.
I am not going to church.
Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she said.
Funke Akindele, who worships at the Celestial Church of Christ, also pointed out that media teams and other worshippers regularly draw attention to her during services.
Funke Akindele Shift To Online Worship
As a result, she now prefers online worship, as it allows her to focus more on her faith without constant public attention.
