When Showmax ended its service on April 30, 2026, many subscribers in Nigeria suddenly wondered what would happen next.

They had relied on the app for daily entertainment, so its disappearance felt like a real change in routine.

When Showmax ended its service on April 30, 2026, many subscribers in Nigeria suddenly wondered what would happen next.

Trial Access To DStv Stream Compact

Soon after, MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, stepped in and introduced a new option.

The company invited eligible Showmax customers to try DStv Stream Compact for a limited time.

In doing so, it positioned the offer as part of a wider shift towards a single streaming platform, DStv Stream.

Instead of leaving customers stranded, MultiChoice actively created a bridge.

It gave users temporary access to a richer content package that went beyond what they had before.

With DStv Stream Compact, viewers could watch live TV channels, international series, films, children’s programmes, and live sports through SuperSport.

In addition, they could stream all of this on mobile devices and smart TVs, which made viewing more flexible.

Email Communication And Activation

Meanwhile, the company set the trial period to run until the end of May.

It also promised to contact eligible customers directly using the email linked to their Showmax account.

Through this email, customers would receive clear instructions on how to activate the offer.

After the trial, MultiChoice also offered a continuation plan.

Customers who chose to stay could subscribe to DStv Stream Compact at a special discounted price for 12 months.

However, they needed to keep their subscription active and ensure they paid on time throughout the period.

Showmax Users Eligibility And Exclusions

At the same time, the company defined clear boundaries for eligibility.

It offered the deal only to Showmax customers who subscribed directly and did not have an active DStv subscription.

On the other hand, it excluded customers who already received Showmax through their DStv packages, since those users already accessed the service through their existing plans.

Ultimately, what began as the end of Showmax quickly turned into a structured transition.

Rather than disrupting viewing habits, MultiChoice guided customers into a more unified streaming experience under DStv Stream.
