In April, Nigerian comedian cum filmmaker, AY set social media into a frenzy with an interview on his 17-year beef with his colleague, Basketmouth.

He revealed that the longtime feud was due to a business transaction that went wrong.

According to AY, trouble started after Basketmouth requested him to perform at a show on his behalf.

However, he (Basketmouth) refused to remit the agreed payment.
AY said he reached out to the organiser, who confirmed he had made payment before the show and shared the feedback with his colleague, which generated a fight.

Basketmouth, in a throwback video that emerged online at the time, claimed that AY messed with loyalty.

Again, Basketmouth spoke in an interview with media personality Nedu, on the ‘Honest Brunch’ podcast.

To him, he and AY have never been friends or had any close relationship.

The comedian alleged that AY was using lies about their feud to promote his upcoming show, claiming it was his usual style.

According to him, 90% of AY’s revelations during the chat with media personality, Chude Jideonwo were all lies.

Many Nigerians pointed fingers at his former record boss, Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, which led to their arrest before they were released.

Till now, nothing tangible has come from investigations of his death that climaxed at the exhumation of his body.
