Afrobeats singer Simi has opened up about the personal and physical challenges she faced while working on her latest single, ‘Where You Dey’, featuring fellow artiste Chike.

The singer revealed that she initially planned to release the track last year but was unable to complete it due to serious health challenges.
Sharing her experience on X (formerly Twitter), Simi disclosed that she was battling illness, extreme fatigue and nausea throughout the creative process.
According to her, even filming the song’s teaser was difficult, as she was not feeling well at the time but pushed herself regardless.
Simi said she was certain that Chike was the perfect collaborator for the track.
She praises his commitment and professionalism.
Also, she revealed that despite being out of town when she first reached out, Chike returned and came straight to her studio the next day to record his verse.
She further explained that completing the song came with additional hurdles, particularly during the mixing and mastering stage.
Despite disliking the process, Simi said she eventually mastered the track herself after struggling to meet the original deadline
The singer admitted feeling disappointed that she could not promote the song as much as she wanted.
Also she noted that she lacked the energy to create content and barely remembers parts of the video shoot.
Reflecting on the journey, Simi said the song was made with immense love and resilience.
Also, she expresses hope that listeners would give it the energy she could not at the time.
She also addressed critics who claimed she had put her music career on hold because of marriage.
