Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ini Edo became emotional during an Instagram Live session as she addressed the backlash from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the title of her new movie, A Very Dirty Christmas.

The actress broke down in tears while explaining that she never intended to offend the Christian community or undermine the significance of Christmas.
According to Ini Edo, she was deeply hurt by the criticism and expressed sincere regret over the controversy surrounding the movie’s title.
She revealed that if she had known the title would generate such reactions, she would have changed it without hesitation. “I am very sorry.
If I knew the title would offend anyone, especially Christians, I would have changed it,” she said during the live session.
Ini Edo went further to appeal to CAN and members of the public to watch the movie before passing judgment.
She emphasised that the title alone does not reflect the full message or content of the film, noting that the story itself does not mock or disrespect Christmas or Christian values.
In a significant gesture, the actress stated that she is willing to take the movie down entirely if viewers find its content offensive after watching it.
“If after watching the film you feel it is wrong or offensive, I am ready to pull it down.
That is how much I respect people’s faith,” she added.
The emotional video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some fans sympathising with the actress and praising her humility, while others continue to debate the appropriateness of the movie’s title.
As the controversy continues, many are awaiting CAN’s response to Ini Edo’s public apology and her call for dialogue through viewing the film itself.
