Global music icon Shakira has unveiled “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouse Burna Boy.

The highly anticipated single was announced by Shakira on Friday through her social media pages, where she declared: “Dai Dai is here. The FIFA World Cup 2026 starts now!”
Football’s global governing body, FIFA, also confirmed the release, stating that the song is now streaming across all major digital platforms.
According to FIFA, the track reflects the passion, unity and electrifying atmosphere expected to shape the 2026 tournament.
In an official statement, FIFA described “Dai Dai” as a celebration of football’s worldwide influence and cultural connection.
The organisation added that the song forms part of efforts to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million before the end of the tournament to expand access to education and football opportunities for children around the world.
FIFA further disclosed that Shakira will donate her royalties from the record to the initiative, while Sony Music will match the first $250,000 generated in support of the cause.
Built around themes of hope, ambition, resilience and global unity, the song pays tribute to some of football’s greatest legends.
Among the names referenced in the lyrics are Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.
The Spotlight
The track also spotlights football-loving nations across the globe, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, England, France, Germany, South Africa, Mexico, Japan and the United States, reinforcing the tournament’s international spirit.
The release marks another memorable World Cup moment for Shakira, who previously delivered two iconic tournament songs — Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and La La La for the 2014 edition in Brazil.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents yet another major achievement for Afrobeats on the global stage.
The Grammy-winning singer now becomes the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song, following Davido’s appearance on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA.
Meanwhile, FIFA also announced that Nigerian star Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.
The organisation additionally revealed that Shakira is set to co-headline the tournament’s final halftime show on July 19 — a historic moment that will mark the first halftime performance ever staged during a FIFA World Cup final.
