Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has voiced his frustration over the deepening tribal and religious divisions in the country, calling it “depressing.”

Falz made the statement in response to a post by fellow entertainer Nasboi, who urged Nigerians to unite and hold leaders accountable instead of letting politicians manipulate them.
Nasboi had written:
“We’ve really kept quiet in this country. Reminiscing stories like ‘snake swallowing money.’
“These politicians really take us for granted busy stealing money they cannot finish on earth. It’s time to put our tribes and religions aside. Put this country first.”
Reacting, Falz urged citizens to start thinking for themselves and stop falling for divisive tactics.
“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other.”
“At some point we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he wrote.
His comment follows renewed online debates between Christian and Muslim youths after U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly threatened to take military action against Nigeria to protect Christians from extremist attacks.
