Dictionary.com has announced its 2025 Word of the Year ‘67’, a slang term taking over schools and social media thanks to Gen Alpha.
The online dictionary noted that the meaning of ‘67’ is somewhat complex.

While some kids use it to mean “so-so,” others use it just to irritate their parents.
It also comes with a signature hand gesture both palms facing upward and moving alternately up and down that’s become part of the trend.
For most Gen Alpha kids, simply knowing and using ‘67’ marks you as part of the “cool” crowd.
The term traces back to rapper Skrilla’s viral song “Doot Doot (6,7),” which inspired a wave of online videos.
On social media, ‘67’ is commonly used to describe something or someone as “average” or “nothing special.”
The slang’s popularity skyrocketed over the summer, cementing its place as one of 2025’s defining youth expressions.
