Nigerian skit maker and singer, Lawal Nasiru, popularly known as Nasboi, has revealed that he identifies as both Muslim and Christian.
He explains that his diverse family background and upbringing shaped his neutral outlook on religion and ethnicity.

In a post shared on X, Nasboi said his Yoruba Muslim father and Christian mother from Warri, alongside his exposure to different cultures across Nigeria, influenced his inclusive mindset.
According to him, growing up in Port Harcourt and studying at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, helped him appreciate unity in diversity, making it difficult to engage in tribal or religious bias.
He wrote, “My papa Yoruba, my mama Warri. My papa Muslim, my mama Christian. I was born and raised in Port Harcourt. I studied at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom. This is why I can never relate to tribalism or all the religious agendas.”
Nasboi’s post quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions among social media users.
Many applauded his open-mindedness and advocacy for tolerance, others criticised him for not choosing a specific religious path.
Some fans hailed him for promoting peace and understanding in a deeply divided society, while others described his stance as “confusing” or “indecisive.”
