Many  accused Tiwa Savage of overstepping and misrepresenting their racial identity and terminology.

Tyla has now distanced herself from Savage’s remarks.

She makes a bold statement during her performance at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.

Before performing her hit track Mr Media, she declared: “Sorry, I am not sorry.

The declaration has been interpreted as a subtle but firm rejection of Savage’s apology.

This is a move that has earned Tyla widespread praise from her South African supporters.
