Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, has been hospitalised following intense criticism from fans and social media users.
The actress recently came under fire after calling out veteran actor and movie director, Afeez Owo, who is the husband of fellow actress, Mide Martins.
Afeez had shared his opinion about Wumi’s movie character during an interview, but his remarks did not sit well with her, prompting her to respond online.
Her reaction sparked a wave of backlash, with many netizens siding with Afeez and faulting Wumi’s approach.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Wumi shared a photo from a hospital bed, revealing she had been admitted.
She wrote: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”
In the comment section, Wumi Toriola expressed regret, promising her fans she would improve moving forward.
She added: “I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery.”
