Popular social media activist and commentator, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused the Dangote Group of neglecting a 22-year-old lady who was crushed by one of the company’s truck drivers in Auchi, Edo State.
According to VDM, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been confined to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for 11 months
Also, with medical bills exceeding ₦5 million, yet without support from the company.
The activist shared a video of the hospitalised victim via his Instagram story on Monday.
He criticised the company’s alleged lack of responsibility.
Also, he recalled joining a protest against the movement of Dangote trucks in Auchi.
Verydarkman stresses that the firm must cater for all its accident victims.
“On reaching Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State, we met an abandoned victim of Dangote’s reckless unlicensed driver — a 22-year-old girl on her way to defend her project, but was crushed. She has been in the hospital for 11 months with bills of over ₦5 million. Dangote has abandoned her,” he said.
VDM warned that the people of Auchi would continue to resist the operation of Dangote trucks in the town until justice is served and victims are adequately compensated.
Meanwhile, the Dangote Group is yet to officially respond to the fresh allegation as of the time of filing this report.
This incident follows days after Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, called out the company after her sister, Ruth, was also crushed by a Dangote truck in Auchi.
In response, the company issued a statement pledging to cover Ruth’s medical expenses.
The controversy comes as the Dangote Refinery prepares to deploy 4,000 brand-new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks for nationwide fuel distribution.

However, the initiative, initially slated to begin on 15th August 2025, has stalled, with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) citing truck numbering as the main reason for the delay.
