Is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) moving its hammer around already?
If you followed Nigeria’s last election closely, you will know that some officials of the INEC will surely receive some form of punishment.
First in the news is Dr. Nura Ali, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State.
Reports say he has been immediately suspended by the INEC.
Avoid INEC Office
The suspension was disclosed in a letter sent to the state’s administrative secretary and Resident Electoral Commissioner on Monday.
Also, in the document signed by nd signed by INEC Secretary Rose Orlaran-Anthony, the electoral body said that Dr. Nura Ali has been told to avoid the Commission’s Sokoto State office until further notice.
Although the suspension’s justification was not made clear, it was assumed that it had something to do with the recent claims of irregularities in the state’s just held election.
Hajiya Aliyu Kangiwa, the administrative secretary, has been given the go-ahead to oversee the activities of the electoral body’s office in Sokoto State in its entirety.
