The Cross River Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,800 personnel ahead of the Calabar Carnival.

This was revealed in a statement by the corps public relations officer, Eremi John, on Saturday in Calabar

On their activities, the state commandant, Samuel Fadeyi, said the deployment is necessary as a result of the high influx of people within and outside the state.

“In order to ensure the protection of lives and property, the NSCDC has made a deployment of more than 1,800 personnel across the state.

“These personnel would be in markets, worship centres, gardens, tourists and other recreational facilities in the state to ensure safety during and after the festive season,” he disclosed.

Fadeyi urged residents and visitors to use this season to preach peace and he encouraged everyone to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation.

He added that the command was working round the clock to ensure adequate security for all.
