The President explained that it would have a multiplier effect on about 60 million individuals.

Digital Transfers

He stated that to ascertain the credibility of the process, digital transfers would be made directly to beneficiaries’ accounts.

“Under the conditional cash transfer window of the programme, the Federal Government of Nigeria will transfer the sum of ₦8,000 every month to 12 million poor and low-income households for a period of six months with a multiplying effect on about 60 million beneficiaries.”

Deeper Poverty

Reacting to the development via a post on Twitter, Sani warned the proposed recipients of the ₦8,000.

He says they should pray before receiving it.

They have to pray because the ₦10,000 introduced by the previous administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari plunged people into deeper poverty.
