The Presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, has promised to tackle insecurity in Nigeria once elected into office by 2023.
The former Anambra governor made this statement at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Private Sector Economic Forum on the 2023 Presidential Election which was held on Monday, September 19, 2022, in Lagos.
“We will face insecurity as a priority issue and tackle it as our first project. We need to tackle insecurity so we can push people back to the farm and invest in the productive assets of the country.
According to Obi “when we talk about assets, we should not only be thinking in terms of energy and Ajaokuta, land is also an asset.
The Labor Party presidential candidate said we need to resolve the problems around human capital development, education, and the health sector.
“There is nothing wrong with borrowing, as Nigeria is not the only country borrowing, other countries of the world borrow too. The issue, however, is that if you borrow for consumption you have a problem but if you borrow for investment your economy will grow.
The reason why things are not working in Nigeria is because we borrow for consumption instead of investment. If we borrow for investment it will boost the nations economy and strengthen the currency.
Obi also promised that Nigeria will borrow but we will borrow for investment when he becomes Nigeria’s president.
