Veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor is seeking financial assistance from kindhearted Nigerians to pay for a kidney transplant operation in India.
In a viral video which began making the rounds on Monday, March 18, 2024, of the actor Amaechi Muonagor is shown lying motionless on a hospital bed while fellow actor Kingsley Orji, seated beside him, made a plea for help on his behalf.
Kingsley Orji said: “He’s been in this state for months now. He urgently requires a kidney transplant and we’re urging for assistance to facilitate his travel to India.”
“He recently returned from the ICU at Nnewi Teaching Hospital, showing limited progress.”
Orji also disclosed that kidney complications have robbed Muonagor of the ability to speak clearly, adding, “Financial constraints compelled us to bring him home, though it’s not advisable. His speech is impaired. We implore you to lend your support.”
Accompanying the post was a caption: “Urgent Appeal for our Veteran Nollywood actor Amechi Muonagor. Let’s rally together to fund his kidney transplant in India.”
In early November 2023, Monagor disclosed his battle with kidney failure, revealing that a stroke had left him partially paralyzed.
He said, “I fell ill; this stroke struck suddenly, and they rushed me to the hospital. Initially admitted in Nnewi, I was later transferred to Teaching Hospital Nnewi, where I remain. It happened while I was on set with Emeka Ani, Patience Ozokwo, Rita Edochie, and Ebele Okaro. I was about to step into my car when it struck, and it’s only worsened since.”
Appealing for assistance from Nigerians, Monagor urged, “I beseech kind-hearted individuals to come to my aid. I am paralyzed on one side, unable to move or walk independently. It’s a significant challenge.”
