The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has warned British citizens against traveling to a couple of states in Nigeria to avoid being attacked by terrorists.

The FCDO, in an updated travel advice, listed states its citizens should avoid when visiting Nigeria.

The highlighted states include: topping the list is Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, and Kaduna.

Others are Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

The FCDO cautioned against all but essential travel to Abia, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Plateau, Taraba, and Kogi, within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi,

The advisory said terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Nigeria.

“The risk of terrorism includes the capital city Abuja, and the surrounding Federal Capital Territory area. This risk has increased in 2022.”

It added that the attacks are usually indiscriminate and could affect western interests and tourist places.
