“As part of my plan to secure the border, on day one of my new term in office.
“I will sign an executive order making clear to federal agencies that, under the correct interpretation of the law going forward, future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship,” he said in his latest policy video.
Birthright Citizenship
According to Reuters, the statement coincided with the 125th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that established the constitutional right to birthright citizenship.

He earlier raised the concept as president in 2018.
“I was always told that a constitutional amendment was required. What do you think? No, you don’t,” Trump told Axios.
“You can certainly do it with a congressional act.” But now they say I can do it with simply an executive order.”
Most legal experts, according to The Hill, think that Trump lacks the right to do so because the 14 Amendment grants citizenship to individuals “born or naturalised in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”.
The majority of countries in the Americas, as well as several countries in Western Europe, have full birthright citizenship.
Trump claimed that the chance of citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants, as well as other perks, was acting as a ‘magnet’ for them.

He said: “Even though these millions of illegal border crossers entered the country illegally, all of their future children will be automatic US citizens.
“They will be eligible for welfare, taxpayer-funded health care, voting rights, chain migration, and a slew of other government benefits, many of which will benefit their illegal alien parents as well.
Prohibit ‘Birth Tourism’
“This policy is a reward for breaking the laws of the United States and is obviously a magnet, helping to draw the flood of illegals across our borders.
“President Joe Biden was responsible for the “illegal foreign invasion”.
And he vowed that his executive order would prohibit ‘birth tourism’, in which a pregnant woman gives birth in the United States after entering legally on a visa and then departs.
According to his concept, at least one parent must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident.
