‘Someone You Loved,’ By Lewis Capaldi, Becomes The Most Streamed Song In UK History

The hit song “Someone You Loved” by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi has had an astounding 562 million streams in the UK spanning audio and video streams, making him the artist with the most played song in history.

The single is a soulful heartbreak song in Lewis Capaldi’s debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’. It’s one of the lead singles off the album and it broke Lewis into the UK mainstream before going on to become an international hit.

Lewis claims that he spent six months writing the song, which he dedicated to his grandmother who had passed away. The song peaked at number one in the UK and held that position for seven weeks.

Additionally, it was his first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number one and debuted at number 85.

‘Someone You Loved’ was nominated for Song of the Year at the 62nd Grammy Awards and it also earned the Song of the Year prize at the 2020 Brit Awards.

The song is platinum in 13 countries going including the United States and in the UK where it’s 7 times platinum.

This is the highest number of streams by a song in the 70 years history of the UK Official Singles Chart.
