The death of a one chance victim, Greatness Olorunfemi, at the Maitama General Hospital on Tuesday had sparked outrage from Nigerians on and off social media.

Now, lawmakers are digging to get to the root of the matter and if possible make a law to end the menace.

Indeed, the outcry caught the attention of the Senate and the lawmakers have now summoned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Ministers of Health and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ali Pate and Nyesom Wike, respectively.

Olorunfemi was a victim of ‘one chance’ criminals who stabbed her and pushed her out of the vehicle she boarded along the Maitama/Kubwa Highway.

The Motion

She was subsequently rushed to Maitama General Hospital but was turned away for not provide a police report.

Saddened by the development, the Senate, through a motion sponsored by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, instructed its committees on health and police to carry out a thorough investigation into Olorunfemi’s death.

They are expected to report back in two weeks’ time.

The senators also insisted that Maitama General Hospital should be sued for manslaughter.
