Senator Ali Ndume, legislator representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has revealed the amount of money divided by Senate President hopefuls with senators-elect.

According to the politician, who is one of the longest serving members of the red chamber, some hopefuls boast of their ability to split up to $200,000 with fellow members to buy their votes.

The legislator was asked on Arise TV about the amount of money given to senators-elect to buy their votes ahead of the 10th Senate leadership election.

“I’ve said it before, but the unfortunate thing is that the other candidates are talking about money.

“The only qualification they show is the amount of money they tell Senators-elect they can give them.

“People are discussing figures, but no one has approached me. Some people are talking about 10, 20, 30, 40, and even more.

“Some are even boasting that they will give up to $200,000 to each Senator. Figures are flying around. That is correct. That is truly unfortunate,” he said.
