Nigerians have reacted to an apology from Nigerian songwriter Olawale Oloforo known as Brymo over his anti-Igbo tweet.

Bruno had put out a series of tweets that were tribally motivated against the Igbo tribe of Nigeria.

In one of the tweets, the singer said,” F***k the Ndi Igbo! to Hell With It”.

Following heavy backlash received, Brymo in a recent live video on Instagram apologized saying his statement was taken out of context.

“I didn’t insult the tribe, I will not do that. I apologize to anyone who is saddened by such a tweet. I was trying to weigh in on very important matters,” he said.

He also took to his Twitter in the early hours of Monday, to apologize once again for the tweet.

“Forgive my assertions that came across as bigoted spewings against the Igbo tribe, I did not mean to do harm, I am sorry!!”

Netizens have reacted to this apology in different ways as most of them do not seem ready to let the matter slide.

A Twitter user (@mavisikpeme) responded to Brymo saying, “You tried to use your platform to brew tribal war and taunt peaceful election..it backfired and now you’re suddenly sorry? Chew yours and swallow it Brymo.”

Another (@Letter_to_Jack) said, “Anyone who can read between the lines should be familiar with your game.”

“I need you guys to read between the lines please. This is not an apology. It’s so clear.

“Don’t let people who join words together meaninglessly fool you into thinking they said something smart. English is not hard,” another (@chilotamojukwu) said.

The more forgiving ones like (@preciousphece) said, Well done for the courage 2 do the right thing. Right now our unity is very fragile and things like this can trigger that reality. So, I applaud the thought to explain yourself and apologize. Plz be humble enough to take in the unsuitable responses the may come with this. It’s normal.”

Another, Bolarinwa Olajide (@iambolar) said the singer should “Go and sin no more.”
