Following the ban placed on commercial motorcycles (Okada) and tricyclists (Keke NAPEP), the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, has disclosed he is currently discussing with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to review the development.
He stated that he was also meeting with bus drivers (Danfo) not to increase bus fares, as it could worsen the effect of the ban on commuters.
The Lagos State Government had on February, 1, 2020, ban Okada and Keke Napep from plying some LGA, major expressway and bridges in the state.
The Local Government Areas, LGAs and Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs involve includes, Apapa LGA, Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Lagos Mainland LGA, Yaba LCDA, Surulere LGA, Itire-Ikate LCDA, and Coker-Aguda LCDA.
Others are: Ikeja LGA, Onigbongbo, LCDA, Ojodu LCDA, Eti-Osa LGA, Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, and Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Lagos Island LGA and Lagos Island East LCDA.
Meanwhile, MC Oluomo who spoke through his aide, Jimoh Buhari, stated that he is optimistic that his discussion with the government on the matter would yield positive results.
“The most important thing, for now, is for the bus drivers not to take advantage of the situation, and that is why we are meeting with them.
