The controversy surrounding the death of 27-year-old singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, is gradually opening up. Now, police say the nurse that administered treatment on the late star is the prime suspect. 

Police gave update on the findings so far in their investigation of the cause of death to demystify the stories Nigerians were told after Mohbad’s death.

It is getting close to a month since Mohbad died on September 12.

Now, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa gave update on Friday.

After weeks of exhuming his body, police held a press conference at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

The Update

According to him, the police had identified a total of 26 witnesses.

He also disclosed that five suspects have been interrogated.

Owohunwa said: “So far 26 witnesses have been identified in the ongoing investigation of Mohbad.

“Five suspects have so far been interrogated in relation to the ongoing investigation”.

The Prime Suspect

To Owohunwa, the nurse that treated the singer before his death is the principal suspect.

He said the auxiliary nurse was not qualified to administer injections on Mohbad, adding that the injections triggered other things leading to the singer’s death.

The Commissioner, however, said the result of the autopsy conducted on the deceased was still being awaited.

The Lagos State Police Command is currently detaining popular singer, Naira Marley, Lagos socialite, Sam Larry and a childhood friend of Mohbad, Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy.

iBrandTv had earlier predicted that the autopsy result will come late when the whole frenzy about Mohbad’s death had died down.

It is necessary because issues around Mohbad’s death could disrupt the growth and global acceptance that the Nigerian music industry is enjoying.
