Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with key stakeholders such as the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, and NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau in attendance.
Finidi George has a rich football pedigree, having won 62 caps for Nigeria and played in two FIFA World Cup finals.
He also won the African Cup of Nations gold, silver, and bronze medals during his playing days. At the club level, he won the UEFA Champions League with Dutch club AFC Ajax in 1995.
As a coach, he has had success with Enyimba FC, leading them to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title and a chance to retain it this season.
The new coach is expected to produce immediate results, starting with two crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
Finidi George is also tasked with developing a team capable of winning a fourth Nations Cup title and improving on Nigeria’s second-place finish in AFCON 2023 this year.
He will combine his roles as coach of the national team and defending NPFL champions Enyimba.
