Having been faced with the many challenges rocking the soul of the nation called Nigeria since assuming office, President Bola Tinubu has called on all the governors to roll up their sleeves and join him in the quest to rebuild the Nigerian economy.

Emphasising that he cannot fight alone, Tinubu wants the governors to support him towards rescuing Nigeria’s economy.

The President made this plea in Lagos on Thursday, when he met with governors at a reception organised in his honour.

He again promised to operate an open-door policy and work with all elected governors.

“I promise to work with the governors through an open-door policy that will return Nigeria from the bricks to a resilient economy. Be ready, you governors,” Tinubu said.

“I want us to be partners so that we can rescue our country and make it whole again.”

Governors That Came

President Tinubu appreciated the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for supporting his presidential aspiration.

The President specially recognised the presence of Akinwunmi Ambode, the former Lagos state governor.

Speaking on behalf of the governors, Abdulrahaman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, said the state executives were ready to cooperate and work with President Tinubu.

He said the governors are interested in ensuring that Nigeria would become better and safer for all Nigerians.

Present at the reception were the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma and Governor Duoye Diri who led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Also in attendance was Governor Alex Otti who stood in for the Labour Party (LP), other governors who came are Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarrawa).

Babagana Zulum (Borno), Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Yahaya Bello (Kogi) and Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo) were also on ground to witness the event.

Highlight of the event was the joint presentation of a gift to the President by his three successors Babatunde Fashola, Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
