One official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will not forget in a hurry what he faced in the hands of some soldiers. In fact, he was badly beaten.

It is a Monday to remember for the rest of his life. People in Ojota area of Lagos watched what people described as a retaliation to an attack on a soldier previously.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred about 8:00a.m. when eight soldiers grabbed the LASTMA official and beat him for a while.

A video of that incident which is now viral had the officer being beaten up by the soldiers. He was pleading for his life, asking them to leave him alone.

Reprisal Attack

As other officers fled the area, one of the attackers was observed punching the officer to the ground.

According to reports, the action was taken in reprisal for an incident.

Witnesses say LASTMA officers are suspected of beating up a soldier in the same Ojota area last week.

On Monday, it was pay-back time, as the invading soldiers, armed with guns, descended on the officer with punches and planks before disappearing from the scene.

It was gathered that the victim, who was left in a state of stupor, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

However, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, through the Director Operations, Mr. A. Peter, confirmed the incident.

“Also, we have reported the incident to the higher authorities of the army.

“They are already intervening in the matter.

“However, we will update you in due course. The act is totally condemnable.”
