Former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leader, Mr. Takai Shamang, has been safely released by gunmen after being kidnapped from his home in Biniki village, Kaduna State, on July 5, 2024.
Gunmen took Shamang from his country home in Biniki village, Kaduna State.
His daughter, Mrs. Grace Abbin, confirmed his safe return in a WhatsApp status post, expressing gratitude for the support received during the ordeal.
Shamang Safe Return
“To God Almighty be the Glory. My family lack words to appreciate every one of you for the safe return of our daddy, comrade Elder Takai A. Shamang,” she wrote.

However, she did not disclose the circumstances of his release or whether anyone paid a ransom.
Shamang is the President and Founder of Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation, popularly known as GAWON Foundation.
Also, he was a former President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now the National Union of Electricity Employees, between 1982 and 1989.
