The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old woman, identified as Balaraba Shehu and her 25-year-old lover, named Amadu Sale alias Dan Kwairo for burying their newborn baby alive in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.

The State Police Spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who shared more details on the incidence disclosed that the command exhumed the corpse of the newborn baby on 02/12/2022, at about 2350hrs, after Balaraba of Tsurma village in Kiyawa LGA was suspected to have given birth and buried the newborn baby alive.
The spokesman said that command mobilized it’s security operatives to the crime scene after receiving a report.
Shiisu explained that after arriving the scene, the detectives swung into action and exhumed the new born baby buried in the toilet.
The PPRO said the suspect was arrested and the baby was rushed to General Hospital Dutse and certified dead by a medical doctor.
Speaking further, Shilsu revealed that preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Dan kwairo of Akar village in Kiyawa LGA, who was alleged to be responsible for the unwanted pregnancy.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ekot Effiom, however, directed that the case should be transferred to SCID Dutse, for discreet Investigation.
The suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
