Monday morning became a day of horror for residents of Obiangwu in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State. The gunshots were coming like there was war. When the sound died down, three members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were already down.

The event happened around the EkeIsu market in the community.

According to a community source under the condition of anonymity, the NSCDC personnel were riding in a vehicle when they were ambushed and killed by their attackers.

Now, security operatives had taken over the community.

As at the time this report was filed, it was learnt that the victims’ remains were still at the scene.

“Three NSCDC agents were killed last night at EkeIsu market in Obiangwu Community in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State,” the source claimed.

“They were in their car when they were ambushed.

“As of right now, their bodies have not been removed.

“The neighbourhood has been taken over by soldiers.”

When reached, Henry Okoye, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the deaths of the three NSCDC employees.

According to him, security agents had entered the neighbourhood and returned things to normal.
