Senator Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central in the Senate, has expressed regrets over his relationship with the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The senator spoke in Anambra, recounting her four-year tenure in the Senate.

“They even forged my letterhead and sent phony news releases using it.

“During the flag-off of the PDP’s presidential campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, I was called upon to speak.

“When I said that Nigeria needs a strong president, who can stand up for the over 200 million Nigerians, and not a kindergarten president, they went to town that I was referring to Obi as a kindergarten president.

“That event was live-streamed, and I didn’t mention anyone’s name.

“How could I have referred to Obi? How did they know which of the 18 presidential candidates I was referring to was Obi?

“On election day, they sent out a mass SMS quoting me as insulting Obi in order to blackmail me and pitch me against Obi.”
